CONCERTO Information Day (4 April 2008) - Call for Proposals in the field of Energy
The aim of the event is to explain the CONCERTO Initiative, to give a detailed overview of the call for proposals 2008, and to offer potential proposers an opportunity to meet, find new partners and discuss. The present call has to be considered as part of the overall CONCERTO initiative that is already supporting 46 communities in line with the RTD Framework Programme.
Registration is required before 21 March 2008.

Rendez vous in Cork
The 13th annual Energie-Cités Rendezvous was held in Cork, Ireland from the 9th to 11th April 2008.

National Energy Efficiency Action Plans
According to the Directive on the promotion of end-use efficiency and energy services adopted in 2006, the Member States shall adopt and aim to achieve an overall national indicative energy savings target of 9 % for the ninth year of application of the Directive.
According to the Directive, Member States had to prepare by July 2007 their National Energy Efficiency Action Plans showing how they intend to reach the indicative energy savings target by 2016.

The European Commission has done a first assessment of national energy efficiency action plans in a Communication [1]
Despite the targets of this directive are lower than those adopted by the EU in 2007 (so-called the “3x20”), the Communication of the Commission point out the fact – but exception – these National Plans are not sufficient.
Energie-Cités will discuss this issue during its 13th Annual RendezVous in Cork, next 9-11 April.
