Learn more about the Renewable Energy Horizon Prizes

The European DG of Research and Innovation (RTD) is organizing on 22 of June, during the Sustainable Energy Week in Brussels, a conference to present and give more information about two prizes using EU funding for innovative approaches to integrate solar energy into historical buildings and for using renewable energy in hospitals.

The event is addressed to organizations that are already preparing their application but also for those who will be interested and would like to know more about the Horizon prizes in order to discover and to address the challenges faced by the contestants. The prizes might be very appealing to cities and local authorities that have already in their plan to improve their energy system and reach the EU targets.

The organization which will win the first price will be rewarded with 1 million EUR thanks to its development of an innovative renewable energy solution which will integrate several technologies into one energy system in a hospital, while ensuring a 100% secure energy supply.

The second price will be awarded with 750 000 EUR for its innovative solutions to integrate photovoltaics into buildings and combine technology with cultural heritage of a city district. The entity will have to be a role model to follow and to which model can be replicable for other districts across Europe.

The prices are a part of the Energy Union and the Strategic Energy Technology Plan.

PROs: total freedom in the approach to take in order to find the right solution!
